I've managed to fix the bugs related to launching on 10.1, and probably on 10.2 as well.

I don't know if my new website is reachable from the rest of the world since the move to Phoenix, but I've placed the new build here:

http://www.brad-oliver.com/~boliver/Civ3Edit_1321_b1.sit

Give that a try. There's a chance that you guys may not be able to access the site. If so, let me know. If you can't download, just one message on the forum telling me so is sufficient. :)

This is to be considered a test build - things may not work as well as the "official" release, so don't go trashing the older build until you're sure this one works better for you.

It downloads fast; it works. I'm wrapped!!! (Australian expression for joy, similar to 'cock-ahoop' or 'stoked').

Thank you, Brad.

I'll add that to my Aussie lingo list, next to "spitting the dummy" ;)

Don't celebrate too much - that build has some fatal flaws. The switch to using CodeWarrior meant that I forgot to include some critical files in the app. As a result, several dialogs would not display and would instead cause crashes and assert dialogs.

I've fixed that, the "AI Strategies" typo, and the issue with the wrong colors being displayed for each civ. I've placed a new build here:

This build has had 10 minutes of testing by me, compared to the 5 I gave the prior build, so it's a little better. ;)

Me too, djb. No worries, Brad -- no dummy spit. Wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Stone the crows, I'll bet London to a brick that we get it fixed soon.

Revelation. Copy the URL into your browser, then it works. [Sorry, folks wrote these posts simultaneously with Brad. I'll shut up now].

Hi Brad

Thanks for the new build. Launches fine (10.2.4), lovely new icons, but won't seem to do anything. When I try to open an existing map, it allows me to browse through to find it, but does nothing when I choose the map to open. Other things crash the application: for instance when I tried Scenario properties, I got the message:
Assertion failed, file: CMFCControls.mm, line: 78

All the best. William (moonwizard)

I'll giver her a fire up and try out tonight once I get home. Just pulled it down here and am about to ftp it over to my servers at home so i can just pull it down from there.

This is symptomatic of the first (b1) editor patch I posted. It should be fixed in the b2 patch. Double-check that you've grabbed that later build and try it again. If anyone else is seeing this with the b2 patch, let me know.

I used Build 2 on my 10.1 system last night and had lots of fun. My British Empire mod is totally unbalanced but all the faults were due to my tweaks and changes; the Editor seemed easy to use and stable. Now, I just have to learn what all the fields mean and the repercussions of changing them.

Thanks Brad, and to all the other MacCivvers who are renewing this great game.

Pleas read the thread on the New Modded file for the editor or the iEditCiv thread.

I'm still getting garbled text added at the end of city names when I add cities to the civilization text box. It often doesn't go away. (Reminds me of a bug in early versions of the Starcraft Map Editor.)

Also, it seems that the first entry of many editable things (i.e., units, govts) often times get their values reset (not good). I'll have to verify this with the latest build, but the garbled text is still happening.

And also: does anyone know of a good text-based approach to ANY of this? (This is why I loved Civ II's customizabiity  ) I've tried opening it with BBEdit, but there are a lot of gremlins involved, and I am curious if they play a role with the text (for example, some files for some programs have certain characters that predetermine the next string's length, etc.), so I've been a little cautious.
