Hello Good People,

I've been working on CPH again and I have finally added a preview to the Civilization I section. The page I created just gives the basics of Civ I for DOS but I would really like the input of fans. At every point of the archives I should include the contribution of the Civ community to preserve it from more than just my point of view.

Click here to go to the main page and click the link there.

Going to the main page tests navigation as well -- I want to get feedback on anything about the site too.

Obviously, pics, screenshots, or scans of original boxes and so forth would be helpful. Info is greatly appreciated. I will of course, be reading every post in the weeks to come but I will be doing this for all versions of the game.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks to all,

CivPartisan

Hello Folks,

I have activated all the links for Civ I section at Civilization Partisans Hideout(although these sections are still under construction) I wanted to alert you that the site is growing. I will be adding a list of contributors to pages from here in the forum so if you do not see any names yet just know it's in the works.

Also, I'm enhancing some of the pages a bit more. This has slowed me down a little but overall I think the changes I made were good ones.

Just use the links above--thanks!

Best regards to all,

CivPartisan

I went to your site. It is great.

But I was wondering. You mentioned TTG's manual (and also a smaller one by him) but there was no link to download it. Is there one? I would love to have his manual.

Only TGG has TGG's manual at the moment. I'm working on getting a copy from him..

Currently TTG has an updated manual that I intend to post on the site. I will be putting up more downloads as soon as I sift through many of them and make sure they are accurate and working properly. I have done a few downloads already, and posted them for the different versions (the grayed or blacked out links mean something is slotted to go there but not ready yet).

I want to make sure that the archives are absolutely accurate and the best so people can count on it.

I am also open to anything that might make the site better. Some have already made great suggestions that cleaned up the site a lot.

Best to all,

CivPartisan:)

I really look forward to seeing and downloading TTG's manual!

What a contribution he has made to Civ Fanatics through the years.

Let us know when you post his manual on your site.

Hey,

I just uploaded the NEW CivNet cursors which actually work AS cursors now. I used a demo program to convert some of the pics I created. In fact, I'm using the city cursor right now.

You can go directly to the page from here.

I've got so many files to check that I'll admit it is slowing me down a little, so I had to take a break and get a little creativity in...that way everyone gets something new too ;)

Cheers,

CivPartisan

"bump"

CivPartisan,

Any news on when TTY Guy's manual and strategy guide will be available for us to read on your site?

I think all of us would benefit from having it to study.

Do you think he would visit us here on the forum sometime and give us some pearls of his wisdom? I could sure use those pearls. :)

Hey My Good Friends,

I've been moving slow and have not heard from TTG so I will have to send another email today. It looks like this weekend is the one to get more updates at CPH rolling. I had a lot of activity early on in the month at the website and it continues to be awesome...

A manual among other downloads will be included when I finishing sorting this documentation...but since you ask...I suppose I could put up some of the other stuff too to tide folks over...

Also, contributions are always being accepted...I have to tell you that some of the best stuff has been emailed to me. If you have some files that you want to share please send them to me or post them with a link here at civfanatics in the forum.

Check on Sunday here for updates.

John

Hey Everyone!

I have posted news regarding THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO SID MEIER'S CIVILIZATION.

I've got the Technical Supplement posted on the front page along with 2 original Civilization Disk 1 and 2 labels. There is also a new text file that lists the file names included for each of these disks (this is so that you may can compare files to the disks you already own).

Go here for the complete update.

More updates are coming in the next couple of weeks before the holidays. I will likely be posting a lot of downloads from this point on.

Best to all,

CivPartisan

Great job ! I'm just wondering if it's possible to have that long awaited TTG's manual available at your site. Or it's lost forever like an ancient civilization.

Hello Good People,

I'm just wondering if it's possible to have that long awaited TTG's manual available at your site. Or it's lost forever like an ancient civilization.

Foma2-- I have been unable to contact TTG but all is not lost. I still have the old manual and will put that up instead. I will however check through it (which is what I have been doing) and you can probably expect it before Christmas. Yay!

I've also been on the look out for new downloads related to Civ I...if anyone has any, as always post them here or email me directly.

I will post any new uploads first on the Main Page of CPH and then coordinate with the other pages. Also, if you have a Civ I site that you would like to advertise on CPH, email me and let me know.

Thanks for the kudos--believe me--there are so many downloads coming for site, I can't even believe it.

Best to all,

CivPartisan

Sounds great CivPartisan :) Between you and me, I'm sure we will grab the TTG manual off him one day..

Hello Good People,

After extensive work, I do have a bit of news on the main page of CPH. But the most important news is that the download links for the TTG's Civ Manuals are finally up. I have not yet added these links to Civ I pages, but will very soon. At least you can go to the main page to download.

Also, I have finally set up the Civilization II section--well, it has all of its front line pages up and now's a good time to start the new year by stopping by and seeing what's new :).

The Civilization Partisans Hideout

There has been some news and downloads including a new Civ II Scenario and Technical Supplement Manual for Colonization. Next on the list is to get pages completed for Test of Time, Call to Power I & II and begin writing the pages for Civ III & IV. I am also considering sections for SMAC and CivCity. (Any comments are appreciated).

Currently, I've been able to continually bring new downloads for the older games and I am committed to this. As always, I need new downloads and if you have any, please submit them to me.

Hello Everyone!

I have been unable to contact TTG but all is not lost. I still have the old manual and will put that up instead.

Dack, maybe you did not see this post. We all want TTG's updated manual, but it is simply not available yet  I probably should have reiterated this, sorry if it sounded updated already.

But I will update the manual myself soon anyway with everyone's help here in the Civ I forum. Having this manual at CPH is just a commitment to that, nothing more (well, I suppose the convenience of downloading from the front page). For those who do not know, I am affiliated with CivFanatics, that is why I share the CivFanatics forums on the site.

These forums and CPH are probably the only places that will likely generate any new files for the Original Civilization (we are it my friends, we are the 'Fellowship of the Civ'). Unfortunately, I work--so running the website is on free time. WE WILL get an update to these manuals, with the help of everyone here in the forum and anyone who sends info into CPH, so the links are there and here now (thanks, Dack!) for anyone who wants to download and look them over and offer help.

I salute the help all have given so far. Looking back on the reopening of CPH, it has been a fantastic run--over 4,435 hits since September 1, 2006. That is more than CPH previously generated each year since 1998. But what is even more cool about this? Most of those hits have been generated from only having beta pages for games prior to Civ II in place (Civ I and Colonization).

Also, Dack...your work on the Terraform project WILL be showcased at CPH--I have been watching :) I will probably want to have a few words on your work when you're ready. I've currently ran articles on:

FreeCol
Colonies
FreeCiv
CivEvo
Civ89
Pocket Civ
Antiquity 2.7.0
PPC Humanity

I can see it is going to be a great new year for Civ...a lot of excellent and exciting new developments are beginning...many thanks to all :goodjob:

Your best friend in Civ,

CivPartisan,
You said
In post 13 I still have the old manual and will put that up instead.
In post 15 download links for the TTG's Civ Manuals are finally up

I have misinterpreted you post (post 13,15). But on the same subject, what is the indication that TTL produced a further addition of his copy of the CIV I manual. I also wonder what more a new version could contain?

This seems a lot like The library at Alexandria where some of the documents that survive list the titles of books lost forever.

Hi Dack,

In my last communication with TTG he indicated that he had worked on the manual further. Sorry to say that was last year, and we have not connected since. He didn't mention specifics and since I have been wrapped up in CPH I didn't press the issue. Now, I suppose in hindsight that was a mistake. But, I will commit to reviewing some of the material here at CivFanatics and anything else I find for worthy inclusion.

I think that there is always room for improvement and the integration of some of the workings of Civ couldn't hurt to be included. But since we are on the subject, what would everyone like to see more of?

Let's save time and state what it is that we want to know more about and I can look for that specifically -- not just for us of course, but for those who will read this thread in the future.

Best regards,

CivPartisan

I was wondering what you were going to post on these. Given the comments in this thread I thought that you had discovered something new. The TTG manuals have been available here for years.

http://www.civfanatics.com/civ1/manual/civ1_man.htm

http://www.civfanatics.com/civ1/txt/civ1_man.txt

Those are text copies of the official manual which were typed up my TTG guy and not the 'TTG manual' that is so coveted. That manual only he presently has a copy of and has promised to some time (when he has time) find it and upload it for us all.
