New Game Crash bug since patch role back

I'm having a problem playing Civ 5, when every I meet a Civ at the start of the game The game either sends my monitor to Black or the Game crashes.

I have tried verifying the integrity of the Game Cache and each time after it crashes it says there is a problem with 1 file and it downloads it, I load up a new game and there is is the same problem (this has happened several times now).

Any Ideas?

fixed: something happened where Civ 5 decided to shunt the diplomacy pop-up to a monitor that didn't exist a reinstall fixed it
