I got this Idea tonight when reading through the general discussions board, in this thread,http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86456
I knew there had been a thread for this but could not find it in the last few days of threads, seems to have been forgotten.

My idea has to do with adding more luxuries, please dont jump on top of me yet, this has been shot down in the past I understand but I like the idea of adding more fighting for luxuries.

I say create a large amount of luxuries 15-20, but remove the effect of marketplaces on the luxuries, keep what ever it does to commerce. This way If you want to get 16 :) 's from your luxuries you gotta go out and find 16 of them, not just obtain 7 and build a market place.

I realize some people still wont like this, but I think its a feasible idea and hope people give it a shot. I dont have a good mod to test it with, but someone who has many possible images for luxury items could ty it out and see how it works.

You're right, illphil. I don't like it. :p

Having 15 luxuries on a small or tiny map would definitely cut down on luxury trading between Civs. The idea may work out if your goal in Civ isn't to make friends, instead conquering the world. However, too many Civ players pursue peaceful games, and end up trading to get all eight luxuries.

IMHO, the luxury resource system doesn't need improvement. I think it's perfect now. :)

you could still trade for the other resoures, but i guess this does better suit militaristic people.

maybe when civ 4 comes out ill just have to make my own scenario for playing like that
