New Terrian

Well, think about the size of these units of terrain. They represent many, many, many miles (kikometers) of space, so a canyon, or a sand dune, and so forth are far too small to be a new terrain space all to themselves. It's a bit abstracted, but I'm sure there are canyons, sand dunes, and all sorts of fun things in there already, they just aren't represented since they are too small. Remember the context of the spaces!

Personally, I would like to see canyons. They would not show up in the standard mix of terrain, but you would place them in scenarios. Units in a canyon would experience a 50% defense penalty, while attackers would get a 25% attack increase. This way you could construct scenarios like the battle at Thermopylae

Rivers sould be rivers!
And for crossing them there sould be brigdes!
My point is that strategicaly speaking rivers-bridges don't play any role on Civ3.This sould be changed in Civ4.

i want to see an "island" tile .... representing pacific islands type of thing

ships and land units would be able to pass through the same tile

Take a look to the great graphic mods (at the download section). There are many nice terrain graphics and i'am sure you can find what you want.

50 % defensice pentalty?? that makes no since it shold be a defensive advatage. the atackers travle down the canyon, and the defenders poiond on the clifes atack, it shold be 50% defesive advatage

I'd like to see glaciers back from Civ2 - i.e. water tiles that have frozen over and so naval units cannot pass through them (but maybe land units could?...) Then maybe there could be an Icebreaker ship unit, which is the only unit that can go through glaciers.

he is correct in saying defense penalty, think if u were at the bottom of the canyon and some people are at the top shooting at you you think you would get a defense bonus

Yes, but that is not how it happened at Thermopylae, the example he stated. At thermopylae, the defenders were killed, but they took far more attacking troops with them.

It is unlikely that archers could climb to the top of a canyon and fire hundreds of feet on those below. If they did that while their own troops were attacking, they would have an equal chance of hitting them as well.
