New to Civ III...in fact, new to Civilization games and would appreciate some help

Honestly, this game looks overwhelming. I'd appreciate a link of some sort that would give a beginner simple advice on game mechanics and basic step-by-step strategy.

Read The Newbie Thread , The War Academy , and try the tutorial. It can be overwhelming at first, but after the first couple of games you'll be doing fine.

Don't be afraid to ask questions here, we're pretty helpful. Well, usually

hunthorde, go to the sticky thread at the top of this very forum that zagnut started. It gives links to most of the things you'll need to find. This is a link to that thread.

I agree with the others too, play the tutorial for the first couple of games. Good luck.

The best to do is to use the tutorial. It's very boring reading lots of FAQs, manuals, articles, etc if you aren't addicted to Civ yet !!
