I was just at the Westlake site today, and noticed it had been updated on Monday of this last week (Jan. 20th, 2003). No new developments in the Civ editor department, but I did notice the two new games on the bottom of the list in italics. One is entitled Zuit Suit, and the other is called Cellar. Would anyone here like to throw out a guess as to what either of those code names represent? I personally have no idea. I have a couple games I would like to see ported to the Mac, but I'm not sure how either applies to the names given. Westlake has been known to use code names with distant connections to the actual game name however (Tiger's dad referred to Tiger as the Chosen One in an interview years ago, hence The Chosen One = Tiger Woods 2003...who knew?). Maybe it is obvious and I'm just not seeing the connections. Anyone care to guess what they could be?

Squite easy really: 'Cellar' is the code name for the PTW port to the Mac because it will be available to us at a 'bargain-basement price'; and 'Zuit Suit' is the patch to bring Civ3 Mac up to 'suit' the PC 1.29f. Am I obsessed, or what!

Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping PTW was one of them, and I'd also like to see GTA3 ported over. As I said in my first post, I don't see how these games could fit with those code names, except with a rather large stretch of the imagination (as you so proved:D )

I'm hoping "Zoot Suit" is PTW since I can't figure how they could get "Cellar" out of it.

I'm wondering if one of the code-name games is Master of Orion 3, since its just Gone Gold and, as MacSoft said a week back, only a few hours behind the PC version. Who else does MacSoft's programming, besides Westlake Interactive?

We only use codenames for games that have not been announced by the publisher.

:( for MoO3, but :) for PTW!

Who is writing MoO3 for mac?

The last I heard, QuickSilver (the original developers). In the past, they've done cross-platform work on most if not all of their titles.

Tim Hume from Quicksilver is doing the work in-house and is said to be "hours behind" the PC version.

Going further off-topic....so what do they need MacSoft for??

On topic. I hope porting of PTW doesn't start until it stabilizes on the PC platform. Doing otherwise would be Pretty Time Wasting. Patch, patch, patch, patch ohhh and a patch.

I'm thinking the same reason they needed Infogrames, for funding.

Good point. But we know unlikely, eh?

Well, still waiting patiently for another update from the Westlake site. I was surfing around, and came across another interesting possibility, though I don't know how it relates to the two code words. I figured I'd throw it out anyway:

Deus Ex 2.

The original was ported by Westlake, so maybe the second one is the same way. I would be thrilled if it were, and would definitely make that one of my few gaming purchases this year (or whenever it comes out). I've read that the second one is even more non-linear than the first one, and the AI is greatly improved. All in all, sounds very promising.

Now all we have to do is sit back and wait for the website to get updated.....

Well. waited almost 2 months for an update, and still no idea as to what the two new games are, plus they've added another game with italics. At least the two original code-named projects are listed as alpha and beta, so their development must be coming along nicely.

Time to sit back and wait for the next update. At this rate, we should know about the new games sometime in May (unless a certain someone...ahem...Brad...cough...cough... would be willing to indulge us patient fans with a small tidbit of information, or at least when the next updates will be):D

If not, then it is back to the waiting game. At least if I don't find out until May University will be out for the year, and I will have no more school related concerns to keep me from playing the new games, presuming they are the games I hope they are.

Another update, and still no questions answered. The three latest projects are still code names. The newest one is still listed as a prototype, but the original two are in beta and final candidate, and still no announcement. Hmm, they could be as close as a few weeks away, and no idea as to what they could be. Hopefully as they draw closer to completion the updates will become more frequent...I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm anxious to find out what will (potentially) take up my free time I'll have this summer.
