Hello, I'm new here! My name is Przemek, I'm from London. Some time ago I got Civ2, spent days playing it :) Then I got Civ3 and that's where my frustration started.

I went through the manual, I've been playing for good two weeks now but I keep losing and doing bad during the game repeatedly. Do you have any piece of strategical advice for a noob? Maybe some tutorials? I really want to play and succeed but this just keeps disheartening me.

Thanks!

There are a number of threads in the War Academy that are helpful. You can read some of the lower level SG's in that forum to see how they play.

C3 is major change form C2. Most of the C2 players had a struggle to give up the tactics they were use to using.

The thing is to get patched, if the version you have did not come with the last patch.

C3 1.29
PTW 1.27
C3C 1.22

If you have Complete, the are already patched.

Try to have at least 1 worker per town and have them get roads on tiles that are being worked. Try to hold off working on hills and mountains, until you have free time or there is a need resource there.

Mine tiles, unless the are brown or have a food bonus as a general rule.

Get out and find your neighbors. Send out a couple of warriors or scouts. Get out at least two boats as soon as you can.

Build as many towns as you can as soon as you can.

Trade with the other civs, best if you know more of them. Trade techs on your turn, not theirs. They will trade your tech around and when it is your turn it will be known to most and the rest will have nothing to offer.

At levels like Regent or lower, make very few defenders, that is spears.

Build only those structures that you can use and wait till you can use them. IOW do not build a court house in the capitol. Do not build a granary in a size 2 town that is not growing.

Do not build a cath anywhere, unless a) it is the only way to keep pop working b) you are going for a culture win.

I won't go down the entire list, but this is enough to get you winning on Warlord/Regent.

Thank you for this reply! I really appreciate it! I can realise how annoying it can be when a noob comes and asks for a short-cut solution on howto win a game :)

I'll dig into the forum. Thanks once more!
