I see many others with the same problems but I still haven't found a solution to any of them. I've been searching for hours and I'm getting a bit pissed off...
So, I purchased and downloaded CIV 4 from Gamestop.com. Everything went smoothly up until the point I tried to update to the newest patch. Here's what it says when I try to install the patch:
"The setup has detected that no version of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 is installed. This update requires that a previous version of the application be installed".
Now I can live without updating the game (provided it works okay without the patch), but it drives me nuts that I can't get the CIV Gold-mod-thingy working. I want to be able to play with all those new civ's.
I am able to install CIV Gold and "CIV Gold" even shows up on the upper right hand corner when I load the mod. I can't see any new civ's though and if I pick any of the normal options the game won't load. I get the following error message:
CvLSystemLoadError: ArtStyle ARTSTYLE_MESO_AMERICA is not recognized as an ArtStyle type. Consult CIV4GlobalTypes.xml for valid ArtStyle_*types.
Could it be that CIV Gold won't work because I don't have the newest patch?
Any help on any of the problems mentioned above would be greatly appreciated.
E: solved the updating thing. I finally found a link from gamestop.com that provided me with a working patch. Hopefully that'll help with the other issues as well.
