Civilization VI - Game of the Month 49

Welcome to the 49th game in the 6OTM Series! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series. Gifting of cities is an exploit in a religious VC as the AI cant see that it will lose if it accepts the cities.

Must Read!
We would like to ask you to abide by our most sacred rule: Don’t replay any turns! If you make a mistake, accept it and try to recover. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to 1 turn. In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous save and play it as closely to how you played it the first time. Please let Leif know (via Conversation (Private Message)) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Information about threads associated with each individual 6otM -- Must Read if you are new to our Game of the Month!
Please note: If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.

Spoiler :
Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don’t be afraid to ask questions). It’s also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Once you have opened the save, DO NOT POST in the Announcement thread, even non game-related information. Instead use the next thread.

Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. We encourage players to use the spoiler tags for screenshot. During the time the game is active, please do not post any information concerning the game outside of the spoiler threads including screen shots, videos, or recorded/live-cast Let's Plays on other websites.

After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date and final score (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.

Sounds like a lot of special abilities that are either no use or even a hindrance for Science Victory. Mapmakers ARE evil. OTOH, my strategy is to survive long enough to get 1500 points. For me that would be a record-level performance for IMM level. Maybe I should even try for religoin VC.

They are not evil  Indonesia is most suited to play island plates, and you can take advantage of all their abilities for SV, especially when playing aggressively. The placement bonus and Kampung can really be put to good use here. I've been waiting to play this for months, literally :crazyeye:

If you want to go for your first immortal win, island plates is a very good place to start, as in most cases you are rather isolated from the first wave of AI attacks.

Mapmakers ARE evil.
Well, sometimes. :mischief:

If I wanted to be evil, you would have gotten a pangaea map with the start location land locked...

Of course, the players would have revolted and I'd have gotten the guillotine!

Hi,
I've been away from this site since I used to play BOTM years ago. Is there a Mod I'm supposed to use? also can I use the CQUI mod?
EDIT:
oh I just realised my version of CIV 6 on steam is 1.1.2 so I guess I cant play anyway.

Some extra faith is always nice and of course useful for SV too.

Can't see anything that would make moving the settler viable. You need to settle on a river. And as Gitarja it better be a coastal (or lake) settle too.

Welcome back.

There is no mod for Civ6 GotM. And you cannot use CQUI because it has an effect on game play.
The games we run are only using the latest expansion pack and some dlc.

Should be. You will find out when you go to load the save. :)

Each Announcement will tell you what version the game was created in and whether any dlc is needed to play the game.

Best of luck in your games.

Ugh. I have been playing behind the scenes with CQUI. I thought it was only a UI enhancement. Can someone explain how it affects gameplay please?

I managed to win 6OTM 48 at T202 with only one restard due to a chop being applied to an adjacent city. Against the rules I know but I was going to publish my save (explaining it non-valid) until I read this about CQUI. It seems so much better for most of the interface.

Any info appreciated.

I see. OK thanks for this info. I may try to play without the mod. And I appreciate all your efforts and those of others that make this a great place.

Really looking forward to this game. Long time lurker and fan of the great mapmakers, critics and victors of these games. I hope one day to sign into a server and play a bulletproof no-replays contest ... please tell me that is on the drawing boards.

Anywho, from my research this civ is explosive straight up in $$$. With Earth Goddess and Jesuit Education things can really get crazy!

Am usually frustrated with Immortal but the early isolation is welcome and plan to send a bunch of one-charge workers and galleys to explore what is possible.
