News: BOTM 16 Final Spoiler: Game Submitted or Abandoned

last minute submission! I'v played all night and finished game just now. So there were a lot of hurry mistakes... But what a game it was!

I need to go... technical result is:
domi 1755AD pop 2203, land 356, tech 237, wonder 170. Final score 519K.

82 cities built, some number of cities was captured.. maybe 20-25.

Well done Gosha (grumble, grumble :gripe:).

I guess you managed to keep your empire more compact and pack in the cities tighter?

sure! I had 56% lands and it was a some problem for me to get rest 8%.

You can compare my final land = 356 and your's final land value. I played milking stage too fast and without any calculations. Because of that I prefer to have comfortable gap to avoid unexpected finish.

my capital, example of cities packing, Seoul (sushi capital), happy city

Gosha190, didn't you have financial problems in the spread sushi phase?

Late wars, no GLH, late sushi...
The key seems to be more cities, faster spread of sushi. What's your view?

Also, why did you end the game so soon? Had the score growth stopped already???

I believe the key point in this game was HUMMERS! I suffered all time until I got dikes. And I was constantly happy after I researched Steam Power.

Yes, there were financial problems. Initially I spread Sushi too fast and went to the strike! I got -1500 gold per turn at zero science. Happily I got 16000 gold in my treasury. I switched civics from caste to slavery and pop-rushed courthouses in all new cities asap. It was my first game with Sushi and I learned while playing.

Also, why did you end the game so soon? Had the score growth stopped already???

are you laughing at me? I played last session more than 15 hours in a row! I finished my game 1 or 2 hour before deadline. And you call this "soon"?!

I was more dead than alive at that moment. I felt me like marathon runners at a finish line. So I disagree with you :)

some thoughts about civics.

I used Repr + Bur + Slave/Caste + FreeMarket + Paci/FreeRel.

All of them, except one, looks reasonable. I mean Bur. I forgot to switch from Bur to Nat. There were 3 reasons to do this.

1. Bur is too expensive civic when you have more than 100 cities.
2. Nat has no cost at all.
3. You can build cheap barracks and get 2 more happy citizens!

I built some barracks but later forgot to change civic because I was too tired.

I've finally had a chance to read through most of this thread....

I got a very late Diplo win, circa 1950AD....

My game was tedious and not very noteworthy. I warred way to late, and changed VC plans 2-3 times. I have never really played around with the Corps...but after reading this thread, and after capturing a number of size 3 cities that were doing 50H/t with Mining Inc., I really need to reevaluate their use.:yup:

I humbly bow to your superior skills!

Oha, this sounds though! Nice screens of your empire - never seen this before. And interesting to see that you'll maybe will win the gold medal without GLH and late sushi!

to tell the truth, I failed GLh before 1AD but I got it when York was captured. It was in 580AD. It was rather late... though captured GLh worked for me until I researched corporation in 1460AD.

In this game I won one battle at 0,8 percent odds. I will remember that now everytime the AI wins a battle at those odds :) And feel better about it.
