\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ //////////////////////////////////////

Quick links: Upload submission | Opening actions | After actions

Welcome to the 229th game in the GOTM V Training Series! This Series allows new and old Civilization V fans to try out many features from Civ5's expansions and DLCs in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. You can read more about the GOTM and Training Series concept in this thread.

MUST READ!
Our most sacred rule: Do not replay any turns!
If you make a mistake, accept it, and try to recover through game-play. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to "1 turn". In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous autosave, then play on the same way you played it the first time. Please let Leif or me know (either in the forums or through Private Message) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Information about threads associated with each individual TSG - Must Read if you are new to the Game of the Month!
Spoiler :

Please note: If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.

TSG Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don't be afraid to ask questions). Its also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Please don't post any game-related info once you open and play the save. Instead use the next thread.

Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. We encourage players to use the spoiler tags for screenshots. During the time the game is active, please do not post any information concerning the game outside of the spoiler threads including screen shots, videos, or recorded/live-cast Let's Plays on other websites.

After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.
File Upload System
Spoiler :
We have a game file upload system you can find here. Please use it to upload your completed first attempt by saving the game on the turn after your victory or defeat. (by using the "lemme play one more turn" feature)

Please note: you must submit your game on the turn following Victory. If you continue to play, the game overwrites the data and your submission could be rejected by the submission system.

This game runs through October 15th 2023.

Allright, Inca, my favorite! Start looks pretty ugly at first, but we’re Inca so it’ll be ok.

I see three possible places I’d like to settle. Hill to SE by the mountain, copper or cotton. Hill is the safest choice. Would like to settle on copper river mountain but would lose the cotton and risk a one lux capital; also would lose the only visible terrace farm. Same with settling on cotton, would lose the copper and also not get an observatory; but would get a terrace farm in the first tier.

Forgot at first that we can move through hills. So can move the warrior SE two spaces to see if maybe a lux off that way which would solidify the copper as the best choice. Pre-game is interesting on this one.

I don't think you'd lose a terrace farm settling on copper. That jungle SE to the bananas looks like a hill too. The hill north of the cotton looks to be next to a mountain too.

My question is how badly do I want observatories? Since we're going SV I obviously want them, but hate giving up a good terrace farm. I also hate the warrior spot here, it's basically useless for scouting T1. I usually like settling in place, and on a normal game I would. Since we want turn time and a SV I'm leaning towards settling on the hill SE IF that jungle tile to the E is a hill. And the more I look at this the more both hills to the N of the cotton seem to be next to mountains, unlikely tundra considering jungle...

I've never done a frontier map before. Any advice on what it is? is it a Pangea?

A quick search reveals this: "Frontier: A single continent scattered with mountains to simulate the rough environment of the Frontier."

Seems ideal for Incas!

The terrace farm to the north will be next to two mountains so extra food. The mountain to the south looks to be a single mountain so the terrace farms next to it wouldn't be that great. Now I've almost talked myself into settling on the cotton if that is a single mountain down south...

And yes, Frontier should be awesome for Inca!

If crossing the river doesn’t use up all movement points (I forget if that’s the case with the Inca unique ability) I’ll probably settle T0 on the hill. I’ll move the warrior east first to see if that plan changes.
I think the early food from the bananas is more valuable than a future terrace farm.
