NIF file size for units

I imagine that filesizes for 3D models work similar to 2D vectors--that is, the more complex the object, the larger the filesize. An example from vector graphics would be that a circle, no matter how large or small in dimensions, has a smaller filesize than an object shaped like, say, a cat.

With that in mind, I'd assume the problem is that your unit's model is far too complex in its build.

Unfortunately, this is just a guess, as I'm not exactly an authority on the subject at hand.

I had the same problem at the beggining but it helped me a lot when I resaved the textures to .DDS format with DX1 compression using Gimp.
Or if your model has too many polygoons try using Optimize modifier in max.
I also noticed that this civ plugin comes with some optimization scripts but I never used them.

I'll try the texture and polygoons optimizer mode, thanks friends!!! :thanx:
I think the unit isn't that complex, it doesn't use too many objets, maybe it is the texture.

11 mega just for this boat??? (lake and other stuff not included in this 20 mega NIF file size)
