No D3DX9_26.dll

When I try to lauch Civ4, a message tells me that they couldn't find the file
D3DX9_26.dll and that reinstalling should solve the problem but its the fourth time that I install it and it still doesn't work! even with the 1.52 patch.

Now I have a ATI radeon 9550 series and I heard that this card have problems with this game but nothing shows that there is a link between these two for the message only concern that missing file. And for what I know the _Civ4logs is only a shortcut leading to nowhere, this is leading me to think that my version is corrupted and I would like to know if people had or know how to solve this problem.
I will never buy again a secondhand game at EB Games that's for sure...

There are several posts about this problem.. in short your directx9c install is too old.. install the one that comes with civ4 or download the latest one from microsoft

Hey thanks really for the link, I may be a step closer to play civ 4 but another problem has risen... the good old "please insert the correct CD-ROM and press OK", what's that junk? Does anyone had resolved this problem? it seems to be common, I tried what I read and always failed to start the game.

well you could try sd4hide.exe, just google for it. Another solution is to get a no-dvd/no-cd modded .exe which i did. I bought the game, so i feel justified to do that. just remember to patch it to 1.52 before making those changes
