No Herioc Epic while Mobilized. WTH?

Pardon my french. After playing a fairly aggressive game (for me) all the way until Replaceable Parts, I FINALLY get a Great Leader. I promptly turn him into an army and load a Cossack into the army. Then I won a battle.

Now I should be able to build the Heroic Epic, right? Wrong. I guess the Heroic Epic is not warlike enough becuase I am mobilized and its not a choice on my build list. Boo! Hiss!

You're right- that doesn't make sense. Doesn't the epic increase chances of gettinga GL?

I don't think you can build any wonders big or small while mobilized can you? Even the military ones pentagon/Military Academy/heroic epic/battlefield medican... etc etc

Strange as it may seem, you may not build the HE during mobilization. I did some experimentation with mobilization a long time ago and posted a FAQ -- it can be found HERE.

Unfortunately, the information was accurate way back in 2002 -- I haven't rechecked any of the build issues since then, and I just learned that there was a substantial change in how mobilization works when the infinte production bug was "fixed" in PTW 1.27f (now all build items receive a shield bonus, not just certain military items -- thanks annares for the correction). Could have been changed; don't know for certain.

I didn't know that wonders and improvemtns didn't generate a shield bonus. That's interesting to know.

@slothman - Some wonders are still available: I am currently building the Intelligence Agency. I am allowed to start Universal Suffrage.

Seriously guys, check out the link I provided -- there are plenty of wonders, great and small, that you can build during a war-time mobilization -- it depends on the "trait flags" checked in the editor. If the militaristic flag is checked for an improvement or wonder, you can build it during mobilization. Check out the link for a complete list of improvements that you can build.

Finally - a special point - @slothman and others -- it is true that wonders and other improvements didn't enjoy a shield bonus in earlier versions, but annares just pointed out to me that the latest PTW version does give bonus shields to every build project -- this change was introduced as part of a fix for a particularly nasty bug associated with mobilization in earlier versions.
