Those movies in civ 2 were KEWL - I used to sell everything I had just to beat the computer to build leonardos workshop (go that trumpet)
And the collusus - that weas great, and wow I loved that hoover damn as well - it really made you feel that the wonder was worth building

How can they do this?

No wonder movies? How can that be? I liked the wonder movies from CivII, but I loved the movies in CTP, especially the Labyrinth one. The minitar's coming to get you...

thanks. But I did not realize Civ would be foolishly enough to make that sort of dicidsion. Yeah and I did read.

Will there be Wonder movies in Civ III?
We have created a beautiful and fun world in Civ III and felt that the wonder movies of the past would take you out of that world and interrupt the gameplay experience. So, we decided to create some very cool wonder animations that appear within the game, on your city view screen, without disrupting the flow of your game.

Yeah, this is gonna suck! Somehow i just dont think "wonder animations" are going to live up to wonder movies.

I cant believe they arent including wonder movies!! i loved the movies in SMAC and dont agree that they disrupt play, i think its just an excuse... theyre just being lazy i think (or behind schedule for the release date)

Ho Hum, MM

I am also a proponent of Wonder movies. They give a sense of achievment after spending so much time and resource in building the Wonders. I don't think animations on the City View screen would give the same feeling.

Wonder movies do get old, but once in a while I like to turn the movie option back on and view those movies...

I almost always let the Wonder films play. Like T-Fall says, it gives you a sense of achievement - especially when you've just beat out the Zulus or Russians building the Great Library!

I was disappointed when I read about them not being included, and replaced by "non-disruptive animations". I'm not thrilled with the new leader animations, so I'm hoping the Wonder animations will be as inspiring as the old movies were.

Agreed. The movies in SMAC were excellent, and I was hoping for more of the same from civ3.

These 'animations' have a lot to live up to.

I hated the movies and thought they pulled me out of the game too much. I think Firaxis idea of including in-game animated effects because of the wonders is a MUCH better solution than some stupid multimedia experience...

Thank you Firaxis!!! I would have turned them off anyway.

The movies in Civ2 were sorta poor quality anyway...

I agree with Dearmad, the movies pull you out off the game way to much, and that's why they are not there.

They're getting cheaper and cheaper...

Building a wonder without a MooVee takes out the 'pop'. sad thing...

No it doesn't- they are working on the onscreen graphics more and have said they will have animations on the map- THAT sounds more interesting to me.

The *first* time I played SMAC and the animations came on I clicked thruogh them- BOOORING... and the CIV2 ones get disable upon game installation. They just aren't up to snuff- they don't compare to the typical cutscene from almost any other game I own.

THANK YOU FIRAXIS for concentrating on the map view and making it look good!
