I think it's funny that you can piss the king off to crazy levels and he won't do anything. The king currently with my game is at -32, it's nice to know he won't do a damn thing until I declare WoI. With that said there is no reason to work with him or keep him happy.

What's the highest you've gotten the king down too, I never watched the last few games but I'm guessing -50 is not unachievable.

The less angry the king is with you the more likely he is to sell you cannons and soldiers at discount prices.

Not that it's worth it to keep him happy just for that but still ~~

I disagree, after my ecxperiences he gets pissed from you asking him for units, gives you 50% off and then you still get -1. He states you're a drain on his military. So if you use the king to give you a few 1/2 price military units it's the same as refusing a tax increase. + (-1)

I don't find this to be true, late game he's always asking regardless; however he's always pissed off so who knows.

You can deny the King everything, and it won't affect tax increases. Number of goods sold/gold made is basicly the only thing influencing tax increases. Plus the King asks for way too much of your gold, it would cripple you if you actually gave him it everytime.
