No Text?

My friend recently got Civilizations III: Gold Edition. But for some reason he couldnt keep it, so he gave it to me unopened. When I got home, I went to install it, and it did so successfully.

But when I ran it, it got to the menu, and there was no text. All I see are 2 rows of buttons.

Is there any way to fix this?

Looks like your labels.txt is messed up. I'd try reinstalling.

I've tried about 3 times.

I was just fiddling with the buttons, and I got a game started up. But then I got this error:

I can on my brothers. But if I install it there, I wont be able to play it much.

He's always on it. I also realized it wasnt just the game that I got.

I downloaded a demo for it from a site, and it does the same thing on the demo. So now I'm thinking its my computers fault.

Well, good news. I downloaded a patch that solved the buttons missing, and the other error.

Bad news. The colors seemed inverted, some portraits show up in the game, and it crashes frequently:

Anyone know how to fix?
