No Time Lapse Summary?

Heya,

I just finished my very first game which I started as a multiplayer game, but finished alone. When I quit several running games before and there wasn't any kind of score screen I already thought that they maybe removed it and when I finally finished the game, there were just some scores and that's it.

I have to say that I am quite disappointed about that. The time lapse was an extremely nice thing and I loved it in Civ4.

So when thinking about starting a new game, my thought are like:
The start might be nice but
do I want to face extremely high loading times again?
do I want to fight against an AI which is only a challenge if you let it cheat and in addition put everything into the right constallation for them because it's just too stupid?
do I want to "work" towards a victory which rewards me with...boring statistics? Not even a graph like AOE did a decade ago or SC2 provides as an RTS...

........

So what do you think about the time lapse?
If the singleplayer ending is different, please tell me (and I don't need a Video Sequence)

And for everyone who doesn't know what I am talking about, here's a random youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_Ag2JMwRXk&feature=related

Heh, yeah, might be since forever. Although I played Civ 1, I can't really remember much about it. ;)

But well, this even makes it worse...why breaking with such a tradition?

it was actually one of my favourite parts of the game... I hope it can be added/moded in somehow
