Noob Help? =)

Moe is one of the 3 hill giants you get if you finish the world wonder "Pact of the Nilhorn" (the other two being Curly and Larry, aka the 3 stooges.) He has hidden nationality, so he can attack without declaring war.

Every time I learn something about FFH, I just think wow this mod is outrageously cool. Thanks (both hehe) for your help.

I do like reverend oats; build the critical things 'by hand' then later automate workers. It's fine as long as that option is on, I find.

by the way, there are several noob threads in the strategy sub forum you may want to check out, though beware posts that are more than a few months old.

I do all of my improving by hand. But I use very few workers unless I manage to capture a bunch close to my land. I doubt I build optimal improvements myself but I prefer to make my own mistakes.

At least I don't waste 100s of turns building a workshop/ cottage/ farm/ workshop/ cottage/ farm/ workshop/ cottage/ farm/ workshop/ cottage/ farm/ .... on the same tile while there are unimproved tiles.

I'm playing as Lanun, whose palace grants an extra food on all water tiles. I also have a lighthouse in that city. But I only have three food on coastal tiles, shouldn't I have four?

Also, 'races', are they just a method that's been used to provide units with certain abilities? If that makes sense.

I'm not sure whats wrong with your Lanun city there, but anyways. Most racial promotions do certain things. For example, the Orcish promotion gives a slight resistance to Fire, Elves can move fast through forests, dwarfs moves faster over hills etc.

And oh, isnt it supposed to be three food on the water tiles with what you described, a normal civ can max get 2 I think.

You can get 4 on lakes from a coastal city with Lanun however. And 4 food from Pirate Ports I guess.

Of course magic needs roads. Good Junil, every adept should know that. Obviously the arcane energy from the node flows through the road into the nearest city arriving at the mages guild where it is processed for further distribution.

Hey EmptyWolf, just wanted to say, reading posts like that that throw up such entertaining visual images makes my day :D thanks!

Ah the extra food applies to all cities. Base for a coast is one. I was thinking it was two, I'm pretty sure it is two in BtS.

I knew I'd have got something wrong somewhere heh.

OK, next question! I just attacked and killed an Azer (which isn't included in the unit list curiously - is that simply because the civilopdia is incomplete? I did manage to find it under 'unit categories') with my horse archer. However my horse was killed by fire damage. Can someone explain 'fire damage'? I thought it might be an 'effect' but it wasn't. I really appreciate the help I'm getting here.

Azers explode when they are killed, like Pyre Zombies, and damage is applied to all units in adjacent tiles. This is fire type and is therefore affected by resistant to fire of immune to fire. There is no way to avoid this so it's always best to attack Azers or Pyre Zombies with single units as opposed to stacks. Usually this kills weakened units so you might want to be careful about lower odds attacks. The fire damage won't be listed in the pedia because it is a python effect, so you'll just have to wait until documentation is up to date. I have no idea why the Azer wasn't listed in the pedia though, maybe you overlooked it? I do that all the time, I just scan for a unit and can't find it for the life of me

Well it has 3 str +3 fire strength I think, so it would be like it was attacked by a unit with 6 str. Unless you have any fire resistance or weakness, +50% fire resist would make it 4.5 str, and -50% would have made it 7.5 str.

Still haven't quite got my head round that. But I'll mess about with Worldbuilder at some point.

I've built a Training Yard in my city and I have Nationhood as my civic. I'm only getting +1 happy. Shouldn't I be getting +2? According to the Civilopedia it gives one happy on its own and then another when under Nationhood.

It doesn't give +1 happy by itself, only with nationhood. If you read its description in the civilopedia, it says +1 happiness with nationhood, meaning without nationhood it doesn't give any happiness.

Hmm its really strange. When I open up the Civilopedia on the title screen its as you describe. But when I open it up in game it says 'Cost: 100; Happy: +1'. And this is with the latest patch. Though I haven't checked if there is a new for a good 24 hours . Anyway I know which description is correct. I guess the building isn't quite as win as I thought :) .

in te city it says (in the part that lists teh effect) +1 happy BECAUSE you are running nationhood. the +1 happy with nationhoodis in the info box, it will say that part whether or not you have nationhood.

When an Azer or Pyre Zombie is killed, it explodes. This causes fire damage to all units within a one tile radius. You horse archer killed the Azer but was low enough in strength that the explosion killed it.

As for not being in the civilopedia, there are quite a few units not in there. Azer, Baby Spider, Frostling just to name a few, though I haven't really looked in a while. Some are missing the tags in the UnitInfos xml, some are linked to other units and I think the Frostling one is a bug.
