I can't believe this hasn't been suggested before, but darn if i can find it.

Has any thought been given to having the more powerful monsters from dungeons drop or grant gold when killed, like a reverse bounty hunter promotion or something. I personally find it really stings to have a large powerful monster come out with his crew, take half my army out before being defeated, and leave absolute nothing behind but the carnage.
i understand why the developers don't want them all to have magic weapons, and i fully agree. but i really feel something should be gained from the effort, especially when many times i'm fighting something i didn't awaken, but some AI scout.

It's an interesting idea, but possibly modmod territory.

I have seen it done to a limited degree in Fall Further, where the four horsemen of the apocalypse have been jacked up. Kill them once, you get gold almost as if you captured a city (I recall getting 200ish for Stephanos). I would've really preferred getting the Crown of Command though. This causes them to respawn somewhere else, basically immortal like Hyborem or Brigit. The second kill is "dead for good", and they drop their item.

There's probably something recyclable out of that system, if you wanted to make, say, the "randomly named" dungeon boss types grant gold on a kill.

In orbis or Fall Further (can't remember which one), there is a unit called the "Trade Ship" which grants +10 gold to its killer. If you look at that, you can grant that promotion or a promotion like that to some specific barbarian units.

"Wanted" - 10 Gold
"Infamous" - 50 Gold
"Notorious" - 200 Gold

To add more fun, make each level give +10% strength or something, to represent how the legends surrounding them impact troops' morale.

I do wish that, instead of getting the Tamur Mask on a good roll and an Ogre on a bad one, maybe you could get an Ogre wearing the Tamur Mask occasionally...

Kind of like Master of Magic, but hopefully without the variability: the same lair might give, on the low end, a few coins, a Ring of Nothing Much, or Brax the Unimpressive, versus, on the high end, a Staff of Instant Win, some ridiculously advanced spell, or Malleus the Grossly Overpowered :D :D.

I have had that same thought many times.

I whole heartily agree!

I also would love to see this. Making those named monsters more interesting would be great. They could drop gold, or maybe a healing salve, minor magic item, etc.

You will not take this Ring of Nothing Much from me. It is my semi-preciousssss ...
