Number of Hero Units your allowed?

Yeah...a +1 modifier "You helped our forces in a time of need."

Perhaps a +2 modifier if you help the same civ in more than one war.

It should be easy enough just to count such things as how many promotions they have the gifts have, the units tier, and the percent by which your gifts have increased their army size.

Theoretically yes; practically it's not significant enough to make a difference. This shouldn't be a large modifier in any event, so all we need to look at is shields; the modifier will last for a period of time depending on how significant your contribution is. You COULD go into great detail with this, but you really don't need to; that's just an awful lot of work for little benefit. Shields are a good enough approximation here, and nothing else is really needed.

While on the subject of heroes, a related question...

When Counter 90 hits, plenty of your units become barbs, but you keep your heroes.

When Counter 100 hits, many of your units go to the afterlife, and you lose one or more of your heroes.

Is this culling of units/heroes random?

The reason I say this is that I had two heroes: Basium (with his 344 XP) and Typhoid Mary. I was a little dismayed when I lost Basium and kept Typhoid Mary. In one game I was left with only the Trojan Horse.

Also, I have had 6 heroes as well when you count the Trojan Horse - Baron, Typhoid Mary, Trojan Horse, Gilden Silveric, Kithra, and Yvain. I lost three at Counter 100.
