I would think that an Oasis would not have a large surplus of fresh water to initiate large scale irrigation projects.

For a little bit of realism, and because I like to play on larger maps, I have made deserts unsettleable (?), like they should be. No cities, no irrigation, no mining. It also makes for more useage of colonies, especially for a desert resource that doesn't fall within your borders.

you really take it seriously, what you would argue to the fact that the furs are still available once you cut the forest?

The whole point of Oasises was to be a "watering hole" in the endless desert. They were able to support a small village, perhaps, but definitely not an extensive project such as irrigation. The only way they could feasibly do this would be if they "dried" up after awhile, but this would be very annoying. Oasises (oasi?) just make those little desert cities more productive, and are a bonus "resource". I think they were quite well incorporated into the game

true I guess you do have a point, but remember CIV isn't exactly 100% realistic
they should atleast make it an option in the editor

On a premade map you could add a river below the oasis.
