As a government worker I find it especially offensive when I research Civil Serivce some obnoxious voice mascaraded as a sage telling me how inefficent gornment supposedly is. Why is then that everyone is racing to reseach Civil Service even using Great Library for it? Also, the whole bible quiote about the clay asking 'what makes thy". That is a plain offensive to all non-religious. I have every right to ask the "claymaker" about anything I see fit. Just becouse the supposed creater made someone doesn't give him every right to do as he pleases without being questioned.

Why do you think develpers put the stupid citates in anyways? How about they pull quotes from Communist Manifesto or Mein Kampf?

No it isn't.

As an athiest I have the ability to consider religious texts to be of huge cultural, historical and philosophical importance whilst still being fundamentally flawed as a doctrine for a system of belief, (in my own view), I don't find them offensive at all. In fact, I'd be worried about any game that puts itself forward as a representation of human civilisation that didn't make reference to Abrahamic religions. They're quoting a text, not giving you a sermon so I'd relax a little about it really if I were you.

On another note, a quote from Mein Kampf would render the game unsellable in Germany where a substantial amount of the European gaming market lives.

On the other hand, the Marx's Das Kapital (the Communist Manefesto being an entirely different text and not the philosophical work I presume you were refering to) only really considers the standard of economic functionality that is relevant from about the Agricultural Revolution onward and so wouldn't really be applied to the classical era's form of Civil Service. There are however several noteable quotes that would fit the Economics tech though.

Besides, nobody worries about upsetting athiests, we have no beliefs to tred on!

Incidentally, I do like the word "Gornment", it is actually more descriptive of what politicians do as "Government" is clearly mislabled due to the first 6 characters!

I'm sure the Civ 5 intentionally targeted you and your colleagues for discrimination and slander. Oh, and you forgot to put a little trollface at the end of your post. ;)

Spoiler :
And since when is communism comparable to Nazism?
