I played as the English on the Earth map and my settler started on top of a hut. I founded my first city on top of the hut and forgot about it. Later I got in a war with the French and I moved a phalanx into London to defend it. Before this all the units in London had been built there so I hadn't moved anything into London. When my phalanx entered London my city disapeared and barbarians appeared around my city from the hut. I killed the Barbarians but my Capital was gone. The problem was that my palace was still listed as being built in London and London was still there. Knight's kept being built by London and appearing. So, even when I had everthing researched I still had Knights appearing where London used to be every turn.

that sounds pretty awesome to me, nothing wrong with units you don't have to pay upkeep for.
