Odd Graphics stuttering issue

Hi,

I've been running BTS just fine for ages now, but all of a sudden I started getting strange stuttering, the scrolling around the map was really jerky and the animations seemed bad too. I installed fraps to see if it was a framerate issue and in-game it appears that I'm only getting 6fps max. I tried reinstalling the drivers (162.18 forceware) which until now had been perfect and still this framerate issue remains. I tried the new (163.71) drivers to see if there was an improverment, but it was the same. To make it even wierder when I press escape to get to the menu the framerate immediately rises to its usual 85+ fps and I can see that the animations on the map then look normal.

Just to Make sure it wasn't just a problem with this particular game I'm playing I made a new game and the problem was still there even at 4000BC

I can't explain what has happened here, nothing on the system has changed, so, is this a bug? Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? How can I fix it?

Specs of the system are:-
Q6600 Intel
Asus P5K
2GB DDR2 RAM
8800 GTS 320Mb 162.18 driver

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yea i have the same issue and i have been trying to fix it but no luck at all seems this is a rare bug as your the first post ive found on the net with the same problem :S called firaxis help line but they were pretty much clueless as well...

im having the same problem too. i have a geforce go 6100 series in my laptop and its having a studdering issue too, but it just randomly studders i can still play the game but its soo slow and completely kills me wanting to play for long as is the civ way!

Hey,

same with me! I'm running BTS on my Dell Notebook (Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz, 2 Gb Ram, 7900 GTS Go) and Vista 64bit. It has been fine before, but since I installed the new patch the performance sometimes goes into the basement...It is only for like 10 sec., but it is really annoying. I have no idea whether it is OS related (since the nVidia patch was lately updated as well) or if it was the patch for the game

Update: Not to mention the huge performance breakinn BTS brought anyway. It is much laggier then Warlords.
