I am looking into editing the .SPR files that come with ToT for one purpose and one purpose only: I want animated shorelines.

Remember in Civ 1, how the waves of the ocean lapped against the shore? I love that. I miss that.

But it's starting to look like the only thing I can animate with ToT's animated terrain feature is the resources. Is that true?

A better place to ask that question is in the Scenario Creation forum, where more of the people who play with graphics and scenario mods hang out.

Yep, Mike, that's true. Only resources animate.

And if you're really desperate, you might've thought of planting shoreline units all over the place to create the animations at all cost. ;) But that doesn't work either, because only the currently active unit is animated.

Aw, maaaan! *sniff* I miss animated shoreli-hi-hi-hiiiiiines!

Me too. :( But I only knew them for a very short time. On our computer the shorelines never animated in the first place. The only time I saw animated shorelines was when my dad brought along the laptop of a colleague at work which happened to have Civ installed on it. I only saw the animations for a week or something... But they were preety! ;)

Not only that, I had a look at his savegames then and the guy was a bloody genius (I thought then). He dominated the world (as the Spanish I think) at Prince level (:hmm: or was it King level even)! I only got by at Chieftain level.
