One Warlord Perspective on Gameplay

First out, our Warlord NZL lead our faction, and he sits on the Triad Council with Shattered and Strider, now replaced with Ballazic and Aluminum Knight.

I can only argue our strategy properly, when we have gotten up the Warlord City. Yet, we may provide a strategic tapestry.

The City will be 2 tiles north and 1 tile east of pigs, as Daveshack pointed out, in order to be a production city and to cover Babylonian transgressions through the mountain passes in the long term.

Spanish War I see conducted as this, starting next playsession today:

1. We discover writing a turn from now, and immediately open borders with Hatshepsut of Spain, and let religion flow in. We also open with Babylonia.
2. We send our scout westwards from Eastern Babylonia and through Babylonia, mapping Babylonia and the Northern Coasts, and then follow the coasts towards Spain and scout there, in good time prior to the War.
3. When NZL finally settles our city, we build a monument to expand our northern border.
4. Following the build of our monument, we build two horse-archers, scout has mapped Spanish land by now, and we should have gotten Spanish religion by now. This Horse Archer goes for a plunder and kidnap campaign as soon as we have gotten Hinduism, waiting on the border of Spain.
5.Warlord City builds Barracks
6. Warlord City builds City Garrison Archer
7. Warlord City builds Stable (We should have Iron Working by now)
8. Warlord City builds Promoted Horseman Archers X 2 (plus needed replacements if initial 2 Horseman Archers lost)
9. Warlord City builds Promoted Swordsmen (City Raiders) X 2
10 Warlord City builds Promoted Archers (First Strike) X2

If we observe Spain got mostly Warrior Garrisons, we accelerate plans, and attack right away with Horseman Archers.

I want to confirm that this is also my opinion, since we worked this out together [yes, in private!] and Provolution has the full support of the entire Warlords Faction on this.

Furthermore, i want to add that non specified unit promotions will be dependant on what we encounter in Spain.
And if we stay in Power after the first term, our longer-term goals will be Heroic Epic after the Spanish War followed by more units.

as scout moves back across towards Spain, I am hoping it will cross through Babylon, as we can open boarders next turn.

Good point, we should at least get visibility on their city/cities so we know what's happening there. We could unveil Babylon cities, uncover some terrain near the rice where the Warlord city will be founded for optimal placement, and then turn west towards Spain.

We could actually take an entire northern route trek, if we open borders with both of them, and travel NW, W, SW, S and thus only map areas we have never seen, what do you say people?

An open borders with lincoln is a must, to improve our relations with him. The route you suggst depends if the warlords are happy not knowing what is east of the rice fields

Actually, we could move a warrior built before the Warlords settler, and move him around there in preparation of the settlement.

This is a dilemma, but we need to choose out of two bigger perspectives. Having the opportunity to map both Babylonia and Spain in one big swoop 1 turn away without crossing mapped land is too big an opportunity to miss.

Yes, that's a plan. Congratulations, Provolution and NZL!

Now, it is the time for Builders to translate all your requests into turns,

to ask Researchers that IW shall not be after turn x and, before, to see

the worker/s to be dedicated and the price of doing it.

(Sadly, these days I have not the game with me...so I'm out).

Best regards,

We are sorry it took this long, but we haven't even built the very first city here, and Faith got the 2nd one, so this was the earliest conceivable point we could have made this plan, with the information we have now.

Provolution, can u update Step 2 with the new scouting path in your OP.
I'd also suggest to make 2 HA's in step 4 before we go to step 5. [building barracks]
The 1st HA doesn't have to wait to go pillage Spain though. He can leave while building the 2nd HA

Tiles to be worked are the pigs from Arete [this is agreed upon with Ballazic i believe (not sure though)] when we're at size 1 up until the rice is farmed. When growing we'll maximize hammers while going to our happy/health cap.

I think the pig farms can be kept for a little while more, as there is plenty of food still around Arete.

Horse archers stink in comparison to axemen and swordsmen. A single spearman will stop them dead in their tracks.

If you want to take this war seriously, you should get construction and catapults instead of whimsy men on horsies.

I think the idea was to get a horse archer into Spanish lands and pillage so she never gets the chance to build any metal based units.

Actually, it won't. An axeman on a hill/in a forest has quite decent odds against a horse archer, especially from a hammer to hammer perspective.

Well, Spain has most likely Warriors and Archers, judging their Monotheism gambit and early organized religion.
