Opening Movie Problem

The opening movie for BtS judders and pauses, the sound stops and starts as well as the movie (and the Y2K and nVidia logo have the same problem).

I have played Civ IV, Warlords and now BtS. The only one that didn't have a problem with the opening movie was Warlords.

I currently only have Civ IV and BtS installed (fully updated with new patch) as I took Warlords off when someone else suggested this might fix the movie problem in another post. I've tried turning down my video settings in the options but still no luck? I have updated my video card driver last night but still no luck.

I've attached my DxDiag.txt

i am having the same problem..i have no idea what is going on..could it be the disc?

i double-click the icon...it loads..the screen goes black...there are three beats of feedback..and the game crashes...

the game starts sometimes if i constantly click the mouse...and it goes right through to the main menu...but then it can still freeze at any time...

My opening movie has the same problem. When I called Take2 tech help the guy told me "I have no idea why that happens. We have no suggestions on how to fix it. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Seeing as my game runs fine and the in game movies work, I can live with a stuttering opening.

Damn it, not only does my opening movie not play properly but the wonder movies just plain freeze. I can still play and it hasn't crashed the game yet, but it's bloody annoying. I wanna see the wonder I just spent 50 turns or more making!

Somewhere it did mention a fix for the wonder movies in another post - i'll see if I can find that again. Come on Firaxis help us with this, we love the game and wanna experience all it's glorious wonders!

Well, it is kinda annoying to disable the movies, I want at least to watch the new ones. I read somewhere else that setting "HideMovieBackground = 1" solves the problem and it worked for me. This is in the ini file and plays the movie with a black background.

Blid mentioned this in another post. This line of text can be found in the following directory; Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword - _Civ4Config.ini

I don't know if this works but I'm going to give it a go.
