Opera and AOL

Is Opera all right or something?

I got this while browsing through the net, in the big banner ad they advertise on top, in my FREE version.

Unless you pay to register Opera, you get a banner ad in the top right after 14 days.

It was an unregistered copy of Opera. What was weird was that they were advertising aol and they wanted you to register Opera.

14 days? It popped up the day I installed it.

Did you upgrade over 6.05?

No I never had Opera before...then I got cable and figured why not. I downloaded Opera 7 and installed it fresh.

is that AOL ad the only one you've had in that banner box, or have they been changing?

They've been changing, but I was wondering if Opera wants you to register their product, why do they advertise an AOL browser?

Well, it's not. It's advertising the AOL ISP, which just happens to come with it's own browser. But that browser is simple an IE shell with a different interface. I myself, for example, have AOL as my ISP but still use Opera as my browser.
