Well, our now FIVE Horsemen of the Fanaticas are crushing all who oppose them. Seriously, they've taken VERY little damage from anywhere and are now languishing in Kashgar while awaiting new orders.

The original 4 Horsemen are supported by Beijing, so moving them about poses no happiness issues. The 5th is supported by Tabriz which really won't cause a problem either.

We control the southern portion of the Mogol continent, and can set our sights to the north if we wish. Given the swamps and unfriendly terrain, we could always set up a few forts and hold our position for a while as well.

The Mongol defenses have been surprisingly thin. The only city that I can see with a city wall is their capital at Karakorum, and the defenders there aren't much to look at either. The Mongols are also the wealthiest nation as well - with more cash coming into their Fundy coffers all the time. We can actually use our military to take the cities and the money we get could fund bribing elsewhere in the world.

So do we want to start a second front anywhere? The Germans are ripe for the taking, I think. They have a capital with crappy defenses and we have three vet cavs with more being trained on the Chinese mainland. There is a spy and transport waiting in Canton. Of course, we could use these fresh troops (after getting support in Beijing) to help in Operation Overhorde. We could transport them to the northern reaches of Mongol territory and attack with a "pincher" technique from the north and south.

Keep in mind that we also have 3 cavalry on the home island. We may want to discuss moving those troops around a bit (though keep one for emergencies perhaps).

The English and Romans are other choices. We can probably save the Zulus until later - even though they are now the closest civ to our home island. They are just so backward you hafta feel sorry for them. :(

So, general Ren (and others), what shall we do about all of this.

Some screnshots for those who want it:

What we know of the Germans
Left to conquer on Dover continent
Mongol home island
Our allies the Zulus
The Romans

I don´t think a second front for the mongols is necessary, those troops on the Chineese island are probably better used attacking the Germans. Taking them out will probably be rather easy, but considering the city walls in Hamburg (their capital) we could probably use a cruiser.

About the Mongols, do we know what defenses Basra has? Their partisans are probably being gathered here, but it doesn´t hurt to have a look. The fortress could serve as a resting place for our horsemen, before attacking. We could sure use the help of a cruiser when taking out Karakorum and one could be built for example in Joespaniel.

Bribing the English cities of Oxford, Leeds and Reading would also be nice if the price is affordable. :)

1st: I suggest we leave those 3 cavalry on the homeland, and perhaps move another there. You can never defend yourself enough, since the AI has transport they have the capability to get 8 units there on one ship

2nd: I suggest we use the Chinese mainland to build defences for our front on Operation Overhoard, worry about attack later

3rd: If you really want to warmonger, I suggest we take care of the Romans on Viroconium/Dukeshire/Spice Haven/Renmark Island (Virokespinmark?)

4th: check out my military thread

Its unlikely that the computer will ever attack us with more than 3 units...It would be interesting to see us attack the Germans as our troops near to the Chinese will not have far to go to reach the Germans...Although the Romans are probably the next most powerful player so perhaps we should attack them, like Ren said.

Sorry, Ren. I put this thread out there before I knew you were going to cover this in your military thread (in quite a witty manor no less:))

1. Happy to leave them if you wish.

2. Would you suggest moving the cavalry being created there to assist the Mongol effort?

3. Would this be by bribery or military. If the latter, then a few extra cavs would be nice - perhaps some instant defense as well.

I have not had a chance to peek at Basra yet. The spy was able to spot the city, but it is so far away that any spy that peeks would be left outside and not be able to return. We could always do a sabotage run and have the spy escape back to our city, but we run the risk of losing the spy, too. I was thinking that our spy in the transport would circuit around the Mongol continent and be able to spy on Basra from the sea. It should take about 3 turns to get there (assuming a Mongol sea attack does not occur).

The only problem about setting up at the fortress near Basra is that it would fall in that city's "workable" area. As such, they would likely contantly ask us to keep leaving their territory.

I agree about a cruiser. The problem that I had was that the cities better equipped to build them were locked into major projects like sewers or factories. There are a few nice ones now, and I'll be able to get at least one - maybe two - up and in the water in minimal turnage.

While there is a city wall in hamburg, I still think a few vet cavs can do the job and take down the capital should we decide to hit Germany.

It looks like the main English cities are on a different continent from the Dover land mass, so Oxford, Leeds, and Reading would be nice targets indeed.
