A source of mineral called, "iron" has been found near civatonia. we as the great Fanatikos people must decide whether or not to use the mineral to build swordsman. the reason not to harness this mighty gem to create its corresponding unit is that it will save time to train a warrior and then give him a sword that will cost around 30 gold. (not sure) a warrior will take around 5 or less turns to build and then one turn to upgrade, opposed to the swordman that will take 7 or 8 turns. i propose building many warriors and then a group of workers, connect to iron and then using our massive gold stores to upgrade our warriors to mighty swordsman. to the people of fanatikos wish this to happen?

i think we can use Augean Stables and Civatonia in the near future as warrior pumps. say after we build 6 warriors, we connect the Iron and upgrade. then we go take Berlin. easy as that. :D

not that easy. don't underestimate germany nor think our treasury will be able to support a war if our troops are destroyed in Berlin. If we don't take Berlin in a decisive strike, things will get worse.

our tech lead will hopefully enable us to reel in the gold, supporting our army and will go towards upgrading our troops. berlin only has 3 spears and our swords should be able to defeat them. also, the roman and french armies will probably soften it up. how about building 3 or 4 warriors and then upgrade or even build 3 or 4 swords. this gives us a high chance of taking berlin, lets us begin an assault on the city very soon and will create and RDF, best of both worlds.

But by making war against Germany we waste valuable gold and resources that could be employed in developing our economy and culture for example. Instead of building libraries and temples, most of our cities will be building soldiers. We need a strong economy, and tht's why we must not make a long war. Beides, if we decide to make Revolution and change the government to Republic, war weariness will make our cities riot easily.

Talking about a good strategy, what I fear (and that occured to me several times) is that we destroy most of the garrison of Berlin only to view it being occupied by AI troops. We must avoid that. The AI has to support the brunt of the germn counter-attacks and defeat their most experienced soldiers. This would be a good strategy for the front. What do you think about it? Anyway, we need a short and decisive war. We must not waste our time building and supporting soldiers when we could be building temples and improving our weak economy.

immideatly switch all cities to warriors, get them all into civatonia, connect iron the turn after all warriors are completed, upgrade them all and send them to germany. do all this before we switch governments. how about that i'll see if i can post a map with an attack plan on it in my government thread or start a new one.

Good, the extra 125 gold for signing the alliance can also go towards the creation of Swordsmen.

An Attack and Operational Map is needed Vikingruler, I posted a sketchy one in the MILITARY thread that doesn't include the taking of Berlin.

We can work off that or create anohter one from scratch it really doesn't matter. And I also suggest the Creation of it in the Citizen's forums because most everyone looks there, instead of Government.

At the moment The Information Office is posting that our Treasury is at 62 Gold Pieces. That's not much... so here's the math;

(62+125)/30(?)=6.33333333 (you get the point) So that's 6 Swordsman, that's more than enough Im guessing to take Berlin, but leaves little else to do and rahter leaves us exposed.

But this isn't a Logistical thread JUST YET....SO figure at max we have 6 Swordsmen to work with, and possibly a 1-3 Horsemen, as well as Whatever workers are available and The Warrior of Apollo to use as a Recon Unit.

Those are the scetchy numbers so....Use those numbers only as Gueswork for now!

Ranger99,

We don't need a Recon. Let's make Apollo a swordsman.

It costs sixty gold to upgrade a warrior to a sword.

( [Upgraded unit cost] - [Lower unit cost] ) * 3 gives you the number. So in this case, 30 (cost of a sword) - 10 (cost of a warrior) = 20. Multiply that by 3, and volia! Sixty.

It was *2 in [civ3] and [ptw].

Remember Germany starts the game with free archers and spears (this is Emperor level), so I bet they have quite a good amount of spears though. I am still all for it, if we either turn research down/off for a few turns to get enough gold, let's do it.
