Order of Editing

As long as you do not use the in game editors, everything should be fine. Can't warn people against this enough.
What makes sense to me is to make the map first, which means that terrain1 and terrain2 are among the first things I change. Since it's hard to place things in the scn file unless they have the right names, I would go for rules second. Then, I would do scn, graphics and events.
Finally, game, labels, pedia, advice and sound... to finish polishing things up. I don't believe there is any standard order, though.

Absolutely right about sound planning. Whoops me.

But... I've discovered that even if it is the only editor I use in a session, the Rules editor will screw up nontradeable/nonresearchable techs (those with a "no" preq) and will make all techs with this for a preq turn to no, in addition to changing the structure preq with this tech to no.

So, to be honest, I use the editors every now and then, but not once I start messing with the techs.
I do use the editor for events sometimes, as it saves time.

You can screw up that bug by giving untradeable/unresearcheable tech a "scarificed Tech" prerequistie, for example you set Politheism ( PT ) for no, no, then you must assign PT as prereq ( i.e. PT, nil ) for all the others and voilà the bug is dissolved. ;) :egypt:

I keep on getting error messages because of my edited art files. So at exactly which point should i save them. Does it have anything to do with when/where the save files are at. They are in the folder w/ the art right now. Should i just save noramally or as a scenerio file when i'm still in the editing prosess and need to stop for a bit.

I used to do that but that still allows you to trade forbidden techs. What I do now is add the no no after doing everything and never access the advances editor again after that.

Amen, Kobayashi.

Archer, I think your problem sounds like you are saving files in the wrong format. The GIF format should be 87 non-interlaced, but sometimes I even get errors with this. Try saving the graphics as BMP and see what happens.

Are we speaking of editing or what else on this thread? :)

Obviously you're right. But this way you can use two editors instead of a single one. ;) :egypt:

The no,no thing follows that stadium. ;) And you can retireve that tech for something else, o.c. Unless it causes error as it did once in a scen of mine.
