One small thing I know most people overlook when playing Civ II is that you cannot build a courthouse where your palace is.

What good is that? Well, in Democracy, a courthouse makes one content person happy. And in Civ happy people are a good thing.

So, what you have to do is build a courthouse before you build your new palace. (That is of course assuming you move your palace to a more centrally located secure position.)

It will give you a little more of an edge when trying to hold a Democracy together.

duke o' york sez:

Yeah, but when was the last time that your capital revolted?

2 or 3 times per game or more, depending on its size and how much attention I'm paying (and how much time I have in multiplayer). But then I'm always in Republic or Democracy until I get Espionage; then I'll likely go Communist and embark on world conquest.

A Palace actually acts as a courthouse for happiness. You still get the one happy person where your Palace is.....

Well, I guess I should check my old notes a bit more before throwing them out there, huh?

Well, the new topic for this post is this: Sell the courthouse if you are building a Palace in the city. You will still get the one happy person from the Palace in Democracy.

Nice new topic, Duke! LOL, I'll remember that. And most people don't know about the bonus you get for moving your own capital more frequently than the AI
