How does palace exspansion work I mean when I try to get it nothing happens then suddenly it says the people love you you can upgrade your palace. What do they want so they'll let me upgrade.

Things they want include (but are not limited to) the first time you sack a barb camp, first time successfully defending a city, and reaching an approval rating of 99%.

BTW, does anyone know how to completely disable the palace thing? I'm tired of having to hit <escape> each time they tell me "the people loves you..."
