So I'm trying to edit diplomacy so it makes more sense, and I've come across a modifier that I can't figure out:

"Past events have brought our people together"

I haven't really gotten any diplomacy events, haven't been playing Somnium, haven't been using the Tier 3 Spirit spell. However, somehow I have some fairly large diplomacy bonuses (+3 to +5) with virtually the entire world because "Past events have brought our people together". Friend and foe alike have this diplomacy modifier.

Anyone know where this random bonus would come from? It's fairly significant, and could potentially tip the balance of diplomacy all by itself.

Sominum gives a +1/2 "Pleased to have played a Somnium Master" or -1/2 "Learn how to play Somnium!". Except for Perpentach, he's +/- 4. Spirit III gives +4 "You seem trustworthy"

Np idea were that comes from. I would like to know too.

The only things I'm aware of that give "Past events etc. ad infinitum" bonuses are random events (weddings between civs and so forth), but I'm getting these bonuses seemingly without any events.

I should mention I think these bonuses occur in base FfH also, but I play almost exclusively FF.

I think it had something to do with Thematics, as the Svarts and Ljos had a -2 "Past events have drawn our people apart" or some such. Its probably just a flavor thing- who are you playing as and who have you met?

I'm playing as Sabathiel (Bannor), and these are the "Past events blah blah blah" bonuses I'm getting with each civ:

Kolsevahn (Cualli): +5
Thessa (Ljosalfar): +5
Charadon (Doviello): +3
Hannah (Lanun): +5
Dannmos (Dural): +4
Arturus (Khazad): +1
Alexis (Calabim): +3
Ethne (Elohim): +4

It's turn 314, and I don't think these bonuses have been present the entire game. They also make absolutely no sense from a thematic perspective.

Some do, some dont. The only one I can see is the Dural that actually makes sense from a flavor perspective. (Bannor protect Dural, Dural give thinkers to Bannor). At turn 314, I have no clue what could be causing these... do you have a save that we could possibly look at?

My game is heavily tweaked, so I don't think you'd be able to load my saves. But here it is in any case.

The bonus, if I understand correctly, IS from an event. The reason you aren't seeing it is because you weren't the one who got the event. Basically, if an event triggers for say the Ljosalfar that gives them a relations bonus with you, you don't see that event because it's "their" event. Sometimes the event will trigger for you, but it often won't.

That said, I do wonder if such events are perhaps a bit too common; I have seen rather large bonuses from them, even sometimes with civs I haven't met yet.

Oh, also the "time of peace and prosperity" constellation event gives you a +1 relations bonus with ~everyone~. Conversely, the Camulos constellation event does the opposite.

This is how I understood it too. Sometimes if you pay attention to all the "gong" events you'll see the diplomatic faux-pas and wedding shenanigan announcements.

remember, the AI get events too. thats probably where its comming from.
