Patch 1.52 NEED HELP

Before the patch my game worked fine and I could play an entire game without crashing... now I can't even start a new one. When i did have the patch i got the video memory error which makes no sense because before it worked fine. I already uninstalled every aspect of the patch and game, then reinstalled only the game w/out patch. Now the game wont work....this doesnt make any sense to me. I played one game then after that when i start a new game it crashes to desktop for no reason...and i love the civ games

make sure that when you uninstall, everything gets erased. When I have uninstalled, I noticed that it leaves behind 3 directories (some with a couple of files in them):

1. c:\program files\%wherever you installed the game%
2. \my documents\my games
3. \documents and settings\%username%\application data\my games

#3 is a hidden folder, so make sure you click on "Show hidden files and folders" under Tools>Folder Options in Windows Explorer.

It's possible/probable that once you install the patch, then try to unisntall/re-install, it is leaving a file behind that is messing you up when you load. I had a similar problem (although I have yet to be able to play for an extended period of time).

wow Thanks for the idea of looking around. didn't know about the hidden folder thing. On top of that I searched for any civ 4 stuff and found one little file. Now I can play with the 1.52 patch. Again thanks
