Why not turn a captured Palace into a Courthouse? Not that I really think this is what would happen in real life, but something similar will usually happen. Smart winners do not kill of the entire bureaucracy, they instead keep as many minions as possible and use the old government structures to solidify their grip....

So, what does a Palace do? It is the center of government. And what does a Courthouse do? It lets you keep better control of the city. where the government is far away.

So, I think turning a Palace into a Courthouse would be a fair bonus for the player who takes an enemy capital.

If this is implemented, there would then have to be a change on what happenes when the capital falls. As the game is now, there is absolutely no bonus for trying to decapitate the enemy as here used to be in Civ1&2. A free Palace for the loser isn`t realistic, maybe an emergency Palace (50% effect on corruption and flipping only), that can be changed into a proper one by building the normal Palace at 50% cost? This emergancy Palace should then NOT give a Courthouse if captured......

Whadda y'all think?

I think it should act like a foreign palace, but only once. I don't know what I think. Maybe if you haven't got a forbidden palace, a captured capital could have one. A courthouse wouldn't be too much tho. sounds reasonable

How about this as an idea: as soon as the capital is captured, the government falls into anarchy, but only BEFORE you discover radio?

I just assumed radio would be a good industrial era advance to end that cycle.

ahhhh, no historical precedent for this unless you count instances where the rulers got killed. Now, that would be an interesting concept, have units try to run away from the city.... sadly, doesn´t fit into civ game principles......

Also, loss of centralized gov wouldn´t be bad as it is today in ancient times. Many great civs had their capitals sacked and came back easily, often onl a battle later....

still, good idea, I'll think about it...

Sounds reasonable. Hopefully, this will be addressed in C3PTW, but I am doubtful it will.
