Hello,
I played civ v only once and due to crashes and game play disappointment I stopped playing and went back to civ IV. I don't even have it loaded on my newer pc.
Now that it has been quite some time I wanted to know if they announced or have out any patches and to address the issues with CIV V?

Also with all the rants have they announced an expansion pack that is closer to CIV IV BTS but with the civ V graphics etc.?

Thanks

There's been a lot of patches since launch (not sure when you played) that have smoothed out a lot of the rough edges, as well as crash fixes. Worth giving a try at least. No expansion packs announced at the moment.

There have been quite a few patches and hotfixes since the game was out that have improved both stability and gameplay. I don't know when it was the last time you played, but the longer ago it was the more the game has improved ;)
Mind you, it's still a different game than Civ 4, so if you didn't like the basic gamepay (eg. global happiness) there's a chance you still won't like the basic gameplay.

Also since the game's release 11 DLC have been released, although you can ignore the 'cradle of civilization'-DLC.
No news of and oldschool expansion, nor any certainty that there'll ever be one (nor any certainty that there won't, they won't confirm nor deny it).

Thanks for the info. I removed it because of all the crashes but was not very pleased with the gameplay. A number of units I would have to add and like you said global happiness. So sounds like no real improvements other than that of game stabilization. I was hopping by now they would have announced a patch or expansion pack that would provide a better gameplay and more units. However from what I have read all it appears is they fixed the crashes but no game improvements. Will check back again later and keep playing civ 4 bts.

Will there even be expansion packs? There's no word of one... Only those damnable DLCs... Will civs from either of them be included in an expansion, because from my point of view many essential civs are offered through them, I'm just too annoyed and tight pocketed to purchase them.

There haven't been any expansion packs confirmed nor denied, so nobody knows.
Your guess is as good as ours.

And a tip about the DLC (if you want them and find them too expensive):
Wait until there's a Civ5-sale on (there already have been a few), then you can get it at a discount, for instance, 50% off :)
