Patronage finisher questions

The Patronage tree finisher is that allied City States will occassionally gift you Great People.

Wondering if there are any info on how this mechanism works. Specifically:

Q1 - How often does this occur?

Q2 - If the Great Person generation mechanism is through the accumulation of (invisible) points, does this reset to 0 if you lose the alliance? Or will it continue from where it was once you become allies again?

Q3 - Is the type of Great Person generated related to the type of City State?

Q1: Appears random to me

Q2: Which would make it N/A

Q3: No; it's totally random, and includes possibility of people's unique Great People.
