Hello,

Has anyone tried new AMD CPU with internal GPU 7760D? Which separate GPU it is equivalent to?
I'm sure that you can play CIV5 with this CPU/GPU. Will it however handle later stages of the game, on big maps with many AI players and not with the lowest graphic settings.

So is it just a bit over the edge or strong enough to run smoothly even with mods.

There are some tests on the net but real experience is the best answer.

This A10-5800K costs as much as Intel i3, but you have to buy additional GPU for i3.

That's AMD's best A-series processor, I have no doubt in my mind that that will be able to handle everything Civ throws at it. See here. The i3 is terrible for gaming, the only reason the AMD is so cheap relative to the Intel is because Intel drastically overprices their products.

To be blunt, nonsense.

That benchmark cannot be generalized to gaming performance.

Look up reviews on competent hardware sites, and you will get a picture like this:

Single-thread performance (that's what you need for short turn times in Civ) of AMD Piledriver CPUs (like the A10) is, at best, mediocre. Way below any comparable Intel CPU.
In very well parallelized software Bulldozer/Piledriver CPUs are roughly on par with comparably prized Intel products.
Civ5's rendering engine is somewhere in the middle of those extremes, but still a AMD CPU will perform worse than the Intel competitor.

The integrated graphics is the point where the A-series really shines, the top-of-the line parts can perform on the level of a dedicated $50 card if, and only if paired with fast dual channel memory, something you generally do not find in a pre-build system.
In most games other than Civ, GPU power is more important than CPU power, so an A-series system is the way to go if you want gaming on a shoestring budget.
It will work in Civ5 with medium to high settings (depending on the GPU/memory specifics), but waiting between turns will be longer than on any Intel i-something desktop CPU.

Of course in an Intel system you would need a dedicated video card for Civ5 on anything but minimum settings. But if you can afford that extra $50-100, you will be much better off than with an A-something system.
