perm banned?

I was diggin through the archives and I noticed that some users have their titles set to 'perm banned'. So I was wondering if this is just some kind of a joke or that they are actually permanently banned.

How do they assure that banned posters stay away btw? IP-blocking or something?

They don't joke about perma-banning. If it says perma-banned it means they have been barred forever. And site feedback was probably a place for this thread, but I'm sure a mod will move it.

And if they're lucky, they don't have to IP ban. That's usually for if they keep coming back and registering new accounts.

Using a dial-up, I get assigned a different IP each time I connect. For a couple of weeks last month, I intermittently received the message "Sorry, your IP address has been blocked. Please contact the administrator".

The first time I got it I was rather suprised, I thought that one of the mods would have had the grace to e-mail me telling me that I was to be banned, and I didn't remember saying anything particularly contentious Anyway, TF sorted it out, and I hadn't been a naughty boy, after all.

Perma-banned means that user account is forever closed, it's not a joke.

It is usually unauthorized multilple log on, or a broken log replace by another.
