I've just recently bought Civ 4 for my PC and it apart from a bit of lag here and there it works fine. The only thing wrong with it is that when I play a game, the landscape is in darkness. I can see my units, cities and improvements fine (I can sometimes catch glimpses of the fishes in the sea) but the entire terrain is shrouded in darkness. So far I've set the graphics to medium but it's had no effect. Something else that's happening is that the portraits of the leaders aren't really visible and all I ever get is their eyes, mouths and hats. Is it something to do with my PC or do I need to make a change in my display settings? Thanks if you answer!

SOunds like your videocard is below system requierments or you dont have the right drivers. What type of video card do you have?

Sounds like you're getting the black terrain problem. Is your videocard an IGP (integrated) such as Intel or SIS chipsets. The videocard needs to support hardware T&L or you will get this problem. The min. spec is a GeForce 2 or Radeon 7500 either with PCI or AGP interface. If you have one of these cards then check your drivers and DirectX are up to date and installed fully.

I usually am fine with this, but all of a sudden I just can't explore any more. In the begining of games, if I just move my warrior to explore, he dissapears. I can still select him, but the space is black like it hasn't been explored at all. The only thing that is revealing anything is my City Borders.
