Yes they're polite. Yes they're acting twitchy. They've got an RoP with me. Yes, they've got a couple of fleets buzzing around my harbors. They behave as a militaristic civilization. Why then are they considered "Industrious, Scientific" by the civpedia, civeditor, and strategy guide?

They are probably one of the most aggressive civs I've run into. It leads me to conclude that there is something else programmed into each civilization than we are able to see.

Added question: America is currently at war with Egypt. I get Ivory from Egypt. America is winning the war. If they succeed in taking the Egyptian ivory resources, do I take a hit for cutting off the flow of spices to Egypt? The trade was Ivory + Nationalism for Economics + Spices + 50 gold (lump sum).

um i dont think so but if you want to cancel the deal you could just go and pillage the road to he luxury then rebuild it i did that once and i ended up having an extra luxury

Yes, Persia is very agressive. So is Russia. India will almost never, ever declare war. Every Civ has a few unique traits, I think. After a few games you will figure them out. To me they are all the same. Easy to beat. :D

Yes, I'm starting to figure that out. America is also very aggressive. I finally discovered the other continent. (Hey how come my galleys always sank at sea, and the AI's galleys didn't?)

America and Egypt were fighting a war for about 500 years. America was kicking butt with a "weak" military, and if they eliminated Egypt, they could win the game. So I sold Cleopatra Iron and gave her communism to keep America in check. Abe decided not to sell me wines anymore in exchange for incense and gems, so I made a trade embargo against him. He's PO'd.

I'm getting tempted to beat up on Alexander again, simply because it would be too easy.

Higher Game: could you send me a copy of your Gandhi? mine is - well - I'll stay polite: the worst, most cheating, most arrogant, most back-stabbing SOB in the entire Civ3 pantheon!

They are all bad, but Ghandi isn't as blunt as the Zulu or Persia. He won't declare war with you like they will. Being commercial, I do think he is a tough trader. But he is relatively peaceful compared to the others.

Gandhi has always been a repeat offender at territory violation. I always end up making a wall of units just to keep him out. He always sends a settler, worker, and rifleman into my territory. If you ask him to leave, he agrees to leave, but leaves on his path to the vacant spot -- one tile at a time. Leave or declare war? He agrees to leave but continues on his path. Kill his unit and you've declared war on him, then he proceeds to play the victim card and gets alliances.

Caesar is by far the worst. Rome. Kill it before it spreads. I find the Bola a nice touch in the Industrial era. Mussolini wore one. He will be facing my tanks and Persian infantry very soon.
