In my current game, I am into the modern era. Out of nowhere, I am getting "Aztec artillery has destroyed....." and my RRoads or mines are gone. Whaaa??? So I send some tanks or whatever to scout around my area and there is no one there....

The kicker is that I am at peace with everybody, and of course the Aztecs, but I am still getting this popup message outside my city every few turns that Aztec artillery has destroyed some of my infrastructure.

This is kinda annoying! Has anyone else seen this?:crazyeyes

Hmmm.... after looking this thing over, I have a theory. Its probably not a bug of any kind.... its a problem I created accidentally.

In my game I created a modern warship, a toned down Aegis cruiser, with hidden nationality and the ability to bombard. I though I'd use it to "manipulate" wars between my computer opponants without getting drawn in myself. Trouble is.... one of my enemies, the Aztecs, uses that unit like a terrorist unit and appears to be bombarding my coastal cities.

I have to assume that the computer is calling this offshore bombardment "artillery".

As a side note, this really adds the flavor of a terrorist nation to the game, if anyone is interested. I also created some land units with hidden nationality and the Aztecs again used them to drop by and take my workers toiling away in the fields. Very sneaky. The Aztecs have their 'aggression' characteristic maxxed out, so they seem to really use these 'hidden nationality' units to their full potential.

Those frickin' cruisers make sea travel impossible unless I clump a couple of my own cruisers, a battleship or two and an aircraft carrier full of bombers along with any transport just for protection. Overseas warfare is difficult, cuz 2 or 3 of these 'hidden nationality' cruisers pop out of nowhere and sink whatever they come across.
