i brought this up once before, but the conversation was taken over by werewolves, so here it is again slightly modified

can we get an event triggered when a non luchirp race picks up the pieces of barnaxus?
ideally the pieces would be tradeable in the diplomacy screen, but i imagine thats quite impossible, so an event will do.

The problem, when a non luchirp picks up the pieces they can't really do anything with them. the best they can do if they have open borders with luchirp is walk his remains into their territory and gift the unit. or not pick them up at all and hope a luchirpian gets to them.(i haven't noticed a drop option once you pick them up)
and if the luchirp are a dead race, the pieces are useless.

i propose the following.

either delete the pieces of barnaxus when the luchirp die or grant a power to the unit carrying them. otherwise the pieces just take up space. something like a slight magic resistence is the only thing i can come up with that seems appropriate.

when you pick up the pieces of barnaxus for the first time, assuming you've met the luchirp, trigger the event, also a power to the unit holding the pieces, when non luchirp, to retrigger the event(in case you change your mind later, or haven't met the luchirp yet) obviously, useable only after you've met the luchirp

the event would give several options

1) give the pieces back(permenant diplomatic bonus, pieces transfered to luchirp capital)

2)ransom them. not sure how this would work without the diplomatic screen. but money or technology(probably temporary diplomatic penalty, pieces transfered to capital)you could have several options, varying percentages of the luchirp treasury, researchable technologies, but then only those options the luchirp would agree to should be available, and with static options its quite possible the player could never make a reasonable demand... but you get the point. but then base the penalty off the value of the ransom

3) keep them.(diplomatic penalty, but shouldn't increase each time you trigger the event, that way you can hold out until the luchirp have something worth ransoming for without acruing a -1000 penalty or something, and the penalty should then adjust for whatever action you took. at worst the penalty should only grow based on how long you've kept the pieces, not how many times you've refused to give them back and the penalty should only change if you do give them back, in other words if the unit holding them dies or has them stolen before you decide to ransom or return them, you get to keep the penalty.)

4) destroy them(huge diplomatic penalty. if allowed at all, personally, i'm not for allowing this one.)

as well as anything anyone else can come up with.

just a thought.

How about if the Luch are dead, but if you were their friend / war ally (and hopefully not esusing them) , Baranaxus will fight for you. The event, simply for lore, would include a refugee Golem Smith or something.

they will have their role in the quest part, which is going to be added after wilderness ;)
