This sounds Very Exciting. If done right it could make multiplayer Civ something practical. Any other opinions (especially from those who have done multiplayer Civ and have some idea if this will /won't be a great improvement)

very interested to see how they pull it off.

I am sure it can be done with some ingenuity.

It seems like it will be mostly people coming in and taking over for AI civs, or playing succession type games, where a group of friends do something like foster the french empire. Switching off with eachother, and letting the AI fill in the gaps when no-one is around.... kind of like various kings controlling the kingdom through history.

I got the impression that it was an automated PBEM subroutine, where you receive your turn, play it then send it on to the next guy. If everyone was online at the same time, then you could really bang them out, but when someone had to leave, the game didn't stop dead. Great for someone like me who only has limited time online each day...

Yes it's persistant PBEM...... but when someone leaves, the empire stays, and anyone else can pick it up.

Everyone likes to start from scratch... but the glory... the glory of owning an empire... :D

I can't wait!

Yes i believe it is also a streemlined PBEM. Which sounds great. No more having to manually email the turn anymore. I could imagine that this could really speed up gameplay alot. You go into civ4 and it says: "You have a turn waiting" and you click on it, take your turn and then forget about it till the next time it tells you. This is great.
