has anyone figured out why after planting & then clearing a forest that the city does not get the 10 shields back. Sometimes I get the 10 shields, sometimes it just clears the forest & that's it.?????
Are you sure you are clearing a forest that is actually in the city's radius? Also I've always assumed that replanting and then chopping forests isn't productive when compared to the time wasted where a worker could be doing something more productive like improving the tile once the forest has been removed.
Thanks for the reply Dell19.
Yes the forest was within the city radius. Actually, I had cleared the original forest & got the 10 shields back to the city, however, when I replanted the forest on the same tile & then cleared it again, I did not get the 10 shields.
Any thoughts?????
You can only clear the forest 1 time for the shields, it is very hard to
remember which ones have been chopped . I learned
that after many wasted chops by reading in the forums and following a
couple of SGs . Maybe there is a way to tell if they have
been previously chopped, I will .
There's no way to tell what forests have been chopped and which haven't. It's stored internally but there's no way of retrieving that information.
In the original, unpatched vanilla Civ3, you could lumberjack indefinitely. People used to exploit this tremendously to get massive production from terminally corrupt cities. It was removed in either the first or the second patch, so you can only get the 10 shields from a particular square once.
Not sure if either of those mention that a city producing wealth or building a wonder will never get the 10 shields. If those shields can legitimately go to another city, they will. Otherwise, they're lost for all time.
