Do you play with it? I usally do but was wondering if people think it makes the game any easier or harder at all.

I love accelerated production. It is really great for someone with no patience like myself. If you can keep up to the quicker speed the difficulty is about the same, but if you lag behind like i did the first time after switching then you dead.

I think it's great when it costs gold...

but why does it kill off citizens occaionally?

Pickled I'm talking about the option, not hurrying improvements/units. And the reason it cost people instead of money is when you are in a despotism/communism.

Guys listen, I'm not talking about rushing improvements. I'm talking about the option that makes the game go twice as fast. Oh and I have also realized that if you are a peaceful person or even a warmongerer using accelerated production will increase your score because you will be finishing the game faster. All my top scores are using it. Just thougt some people might not know this.

I personally find it makes the game easier.

Perhaps that is just because I am more focused with the game moving along a bit faster. With accelerated production turned off I tend to get distracted by the TV. :crazyeye:

If you play an expansionist civ I think accelerated production gives you an edge by being able to pump out scouts quicker at the start, emphasising the tech advantage this can give you from goody huts.

I don't think the ai takes advantage of the faster production as well as a human player (hmm maybe this goes without saying, ah well too late, its said)

Just my thoughts on the matter!

I'm really not sure about it yet - but I have noticed it's effects. I chose to play it for the last few Civ3 games I've played, thinking it would be better than waiting around for new technologies, units or improvements. But I think I agree with EQandcivfanatic - it's great if you can keep up, but if you lag behind you *really* lag behind. I ended up with my poor Roman Empire being ganged up on by America and Egypt because of it.

But then I guess it's worth pointing out that the game leveled out a bit in the 1600s. Everyone had every technology, so it started becoming more to do with tactics and the state of the cities and territory - rather than the problems you get with lagging in the science race.

Oh and Egypt is now crushed, Germany is being crushed, and I have America in my sites - they're not going to get away with crushing my Northern Russo-Roman Outpost of Odessa!

Something else I ought to mention is this. Try Accelerated Production with (I forget his name)'s No corruption with no map mod. It is in the completed modpacks section. It really works too. With that mod, you will see some pretty interesting wars. For example, when playing as the Americans on a random huge pagnega map, I was at war with the Iriqouis, who were able to churn out a archer a turn in each of his cities. I was able to turn out 1 swordsman every 2 turns in mine. Iron eventually won over bows and arrows but not after exactly 50, yes 50 i counted, Iriquois archers were on the feild and almost 40 of my swordsmen were there. This was only the first of many wars like that. So if you are a person looking for many large wars se the no corruption mod.

I think you'll see a lot more use of Acc. Prod. in multiplayer. Since it can cut out half of the turns, it may be more appealing to some groups who don't want a three month game.

There are still some flaws in it, though. I would imagine I would want worker turns MOD'ed to cut them in half too. If you are going to cut some things in half, you have got to hit EVERYTHING, or the game won't be properly balanced anymore.

I like the accelerated production. It essentially doubles the number or turns your get. That is, I seem to wait around for a building to build before I move on. The last game, my build order for the babs was: temple(adjust lux slider...) war, war, settler.

This gave me a temple in 10 turns from the start of the game and a nice sized city.

I think its fun to play this way, there are fewer turns needed to build/research.

I just played a game with it on and lost in emporer level. But I had more fun because it took less time. I wouldn't say it halves the time required to do a game, because I still took some time to think and there's the same # of units (or more) to push around the map.

I found the game more fun cause it didn't take me a few days to get to the later stages and then lose. At least my loss was shorter and less painful.

It is hard to say if it made things more difficult. I built more improvements, it seemed, but it is just one game so far. Biggest difference is the speed so far. It may mean I may never get my histographic victory...

I don't think the AP doubles the worker speed. So, sometimes you can build them faster than they can do things so I ended up making a few more, I think.

Yup, and movement points should be doubled as well. It still takes forever to get around the world (before RR) and when you producing everything twice as fast the game can get kind of screwy.
