But as most of you probbably know you can't unless you have a second cd, or dvd drive because you need the first drive to play those damm movies and I don't like them and I want to stop them if I can can you help

gia65man,

We Love tne movies and have the whole game loaded on our harddrive
so we can play cds while Civing. If you do not want to sacrifice the
harddrive space, once you are in a game goto the File section of the toolbar
pulldown the menu & click on the " Graphic Options..." choice.
There is a " Wonders Movies " choice, just uncheck the box to stop the
Movies from playing.

It is also possible to patch the .EXE file to run without needing a CD. You must match the version to the patch exactly, however. The best way to find current patches is just to do an internet search, and/or look on gamecopyworld.com.

Personally, I have two icons set up... the original "unpatched" version (which demands the Civ II CD), and the "NO-CD" version. Naturally, since the "NO-CD" version no longer needs (or can ever use) a CD drive, the CD is free to do anything else, like play music CDs, run other programs while playing Civ II, etc.

BTW, all a "NO-CD" patch does is stop all CD access by a program. Be sure to back up your original .EXE file before trying it, though.
